Brunswick Phonograph Model 207 – Oak
$1,735.00
The Brunswick Gramophone/Phonograph Model 207 was a high-end phonograph that was introduced in 1917 by the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company. It was one of the most popular phonographs on the market at the time, and it was known for its excellent sound quality and its elegant design.
The Model 207 was equipped with a number of innovative features, including a Ultona reproducer, which was a two-stylus reproducer that could play both lateral groove and Edison hill-and-dale groove records. To switch formats, you swivel the reproducer head, and slide the tone arm in and out, to adjust it to play whatever format record that is on the platter. There is also a sliding weight that you adjust for proper pressure upon the record. It has been described as the “Swiss army knife” of reproducers. It also had a volume control, an automatic shut-off brake, and record storage space in the cabinet.
The Model 207 Gramophone was available in a variety of finishes, including oak (*this model), mahogany, and walnut. It was also available in a number of different styles, including Art Deco, Mission, and Neoclassical.
The Model 207 was a popular choice for both home and commercial use. It was used in homes, hotels, restaurants, and other businesses. It was also used by many professional musicians, including Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong.
The Model 207 remained in production until the early 1930s, when it was replaced by the Brunswick Phonograph Model 208. The Model 207 is now considered to be a classic antique phonograph, and it is highly sought-after by collectors.
